Abstract The article is devoted to the issues of language immersion and socialization of Ukrainian schoolchildren – new immigrants studying in one of the comprehensive schools in the city of Narva, in Estonia. The aim of the work is to identify factors influencing the success of the adaptation of immigrant children including learning Estonian language, intercultural interaction and forms of support provided by the school and families. Particular attention is paid to the language immersion strategies used by teachers, as well as the role of parents in the educational and social processes. It has been established that the motivation of students, teaching methods and availability of psychological and academic support have a significant impact on the dynamics of adaptation.
